With over 18 years of commercial maritime experience, Marx has spent his life working on the water. From operating commercial vessels to teaching new boaters, his knowledge and calm approach make him an outstanding mentor. As Chief Instructor, Marx leads our RYA training programs and ensures that students not only gain practical skills but also a deep respect for boating safety. His expertise covers both powerboat training and jetski instruction, making him a versatile and highly regarded instructor in South Africa.
Makayla Mohr
Principle
Makayla is the Principal of Neptune’s Nautical Academy and the driving force behind its success. Alongside Marx, she has built the academy into a trusted RYA training school in Hermanus. Makayla ensures smooth operations, supports students through their training journey, and maintains the high standards required of an RYA-accredited center. Her dedication ensures that every student enjoys a professional yet welcoming learning environment.
JJ Visagie
Instructor
JJ is a lifelong ocean enthusiast who has dedicated his career to teaching others how to handle boats and jetskis safely. As a Senior Instructor for Powerboat and PWC courses, he combines technical skill with infectious energy. When not instructing, JJ can often be found surfing, proof of his love for all things salty and adventurous. His passion inspires students to push their limits while keeping safety front of mind.
Leeyandre
Booking Coordinator
As the Booking Coordinator, Leeyandré makes sure every student feels prepared before their first day on the water. She manages schedules, course information, and student support, ensuring smooth communication at all times. Don’t be fooled by her desk role — she’s no stranger to the sea and knows her way around a jetski! Her organizational skills and boating knowledge make her an essential part of the Neptune team.

Shore based Support
Jerome is the steady hand behind the scenes at Neptune’s Nautical Academy, making sure every detail is in place so our students can focus on their training. From preparing equipment to ensuring the classrooms and vessels are ready to launch, he’s the go-to support for smooth operations.When he’s not assisting the Academy, Jerome runs Neptune Marine, our retail shop, keeping fellow ocean lovers stocked with everything from boating essentials to marine hardware.But don’t let his “shore legs” fool you—Jerome is just as confident on the water as he is on land. Whether it’s launching, driving, or trailering jetskis, he handles it all with skill and ease, proving he’s a true all-rounder in the Neptune team.
